Why not eat amla on Sunday?
"Sarvayajneshu karyeshu shastam chamalakephalam
Sarvadevasya Pujayaam Varjayitva Ravisutham
Tatmadravidine tata saptamyam cha vishetah
dhatri falani satatam doortah parivarjayet"
Amla is used in the worship of all the deities in different types of Yajna sacrifices. But amla is not used only in Sun worship. That is why amla should not be touched or received on Saptami Tithi, Sunday, the week of Surya.
Amla is not eaten on Sunday as Venus is the lord of amla and Sun is the lord of Amla and Sun is inimical to Venus. Even in Ayurveda, harvesting of amla on Sunday is not allowed and medicines made from amla are not made.
